Firearms, ammunition wrapped in foil recovered at Pittsburgh airport; man sentenced
PITTSBURGH —
An Ohio man was sentenced to more than four years in prison for attempting to hide firearms in his suitcase at Pittsburgh International Airport.
Prosecutors said that in 2024, Luis Rojas Cay, of Youngstown, tried to fly from Pittsburgh to San Juan, Puerto Rico, with three firearms and more than 200 rounds of ammunition wrapped in foil-backed tape and contained inside a metal briefcase that had a lined sheet.
The 29-year-old, officials said in a release obtained Wednesday, had previously been convicted of felony robbery and kidnapping charges, which prohibited him from possessing firearms.
He was sentenced by a federal judge to 51 months in prison, followed by three years of supervised release.
