A former Reading High School basketball star is returning to the NBA.
Lonnie Walker IV committed to a one-year, $3.3 million deal with the Denver Nuggets, ESPN Senior NBA Insider Shams Charania reported Wednesday night.
Walker has been playing overseas with Maccabi Tel Aviv in the EuroLeague since last year.
Walker’s agent told ESPN that Walker came to the agreement with the Nuggets after he reached a separation agreement with the Israeli team this week, Charania reported.
Walker led the Reading High Red Knights to their first-ever state title in 2017.
Amid the jump shots, team building exercises, and skills training lies another focus.
He previously played for the Philadelphia 76ers and averaged 12.4 points and 3.2 rebounds in 20 games. The Sixers did not pick up the team option for Walker at the end of the 2024-25 season.
Walker recently returned to Reading High School for his annual summer basketball camp. Children who attend the free Lonnie Walker Foundation Basketball Camp get to practice their basketball skills and learn some life skills, too. Last month, Walker honored first responders during the camp, teaching the children about what they do for the city and the community.
