Upper Darby’s chief administrative officer has announced his intent to retire in the fall.
Crandall Jones has decided to retire from full-time city management and as Upper Darby CAO, he announced Thursday.
His retirement will take effect on Nov 20. Jones was appointed by Mayor Ed Brown and council in February 2024.
Before coming to Upper Darby, Jones was the Norristown municipal administrator for nearly 11 years. He began his career in municipal government in Savannah, Ga., and over the past 30 years has experience in economic analysis, project management, cost analysis and budgeting.
He is also the founder and chief executive officer of ENOSHA Management Services LLC, a management development consulting firm that facilitates organizational and individual excellence.
He also serves as adjunct professor at the Villanova University Department of Public Administration, where he teaches the Effective Township Management course.
Jones said the decision came after thoughtful consideration. Brown thanked Jones for his work.
“I also want to express my sincere appreciation and gratitude to Crandall on a personal level,” the mayor said. “He has been a valued colleague, trusted sounding board, and an indispensable resource during our time together in the Mayor’s Office. After more than 40 years in city management, his retirement is well deserved. On behalf of the township, I wish Crandall, his wife, Letha, and their children, Shavonne, Ethan and Noah, nothing but happiness and success in this next chapter.”
