It may have taken a few days to reschedule due to rain, but on Friday, the School District of Philadelphia’s Back-to-School Bus Tour will kick off with a morning stop at Penrose School in the Eastwick section of Southwest Philadelphia.
Starting at 9:30 a.m. on Friday, the sixth annual Back-to-School Celebration and Bus Tour will roll through Penrose School, at 2515 South 78th Street in Southwest Philadelphia.
During the morning, the district will bring back-to-school resources, Pre-K registration, free backpacks, games, frozen treats, and additional activities to the community.
A stop planned for Monday at Martin Luther King High School was canceled due to inclement weather. But, there are several remaining stops on the tour following Friday’s celebration.

Throughout the tour, organizers said, there will be “Mega-Events” organized in partnership with Comcast, Radio One, the City of Philadelphia Office of Emergency Management, and Roosevelt Mall.
