Legionella bacteria found in water at Allegheny County Jail downtown facility, officials say
PITTSBURGH —
Legionella bacteria was found in the water at the Allegheny County Jail’s downtown facility.
According to the jail, testing of two officer bathrooms confirmed the presence of the bacteria in those fixtures.
The bathrooms have been closed since initial testing in July and will remain closed until remediation is completed.
Jail officials said there have been no confirmed cases of Legionella-related illnesses among staff or inmates.
