ALLENTOWN, Pa. — Two rafters are safe after getting caught in rising waters during a storm in Allentown.
According to Allentown Fire Captain Jon Hammel, the pair called 911 after water levels rose quickly, leaving them clinging to a rock.
Rescue teams from both Allentown and Bethlehem launched boats from Canal Park to reach them.
The rafters managed to make it to a nearby island, where emergency crews safely brought them ashore at the Sand Island Launch.
EMS evaluated both individuals at the scene, and officials say neither required hospitalization.
