A fundraiser in the memory of a teen from Scranton is happening today.
Nina McDonald says the 4th Annual Harley McDonald Memorial Fundraiser begins with the memorial ride at 12:30pm from the Scranton Community Center, with registrations from 11am-12:30pm, for $30 per vehicle.
She points out the ride is to the bar in Jamaica, Just One More, where there will be live music with Josh Monthei and Casey Peasley from 1-3pm. Nina shares that the group will head back to the community center in Scranton and another musical act, Felix and Fingers Dueling Pianos takes place at 4:30pm.
She notes that the Greene County Pork Producers and Hy-Vee are grilling and serving a meal of porkloins, beans and chips for a free-will donation starting at 6pm. Nina says the live auction follows the meal and there will be three raffles for trips taking place as well. She adds that the event wraps up with live music from Caden Gillard and the 6 String Circus Band from 8:30-10pm.
Nina explains that all proceeds are going to the University of Iowa Children’s Hospital for equipment for the Burn Unit and the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit. The fundraiser is in honor of the memory of Harley McDonald who tragically passed away from third and fourth degree burns over 90 percent of his body on New Year’s Eve in 2021. Nina says they have so far raised over $100,000.
