Daniel Ivan Romanyzyn, of Lake Wateree, South Carolina, born on May 7, 1963 in Allentown, PA, USA, recently passed on August 5, 2026. Known for his unwavering dedication to public service, Daniel’s life was a testament to a deep sense of duty and love for his country and community. “Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.” (John 15:13). This verse embodies Daniel’s life as a devoted servant, both in the United States Navy and in his later career as a police officer.
Daniel’s career in law enforcement was nothing short of remarkable. His tenure at the Florence County Sheriff’s Department and the Darlington Police Department was marked with commendable dedication and integrity. Outside of his professional life, Daniel was an avid outdoorsman. He found peace and solace in the embrace of nature, often spending his free time hunting, fishing, boating, and traveling. His membership at the VFW was a testament to his enduring connection to his fellow service members. Daniel was a family man and spending time with them was what he cherished the most.
Daniel is survived by his loving wife, Karen Romanyzyn; son, Jeremy Romanyzyn (Julia Weiner); daughter, Kimberly Romanyzyn; brothers, Greg Romanyzyn, Todd Romanyzyn and John Romanyzyn; sisters, Tina Martis and Yvonne Martin; and a large extended family whom he loved dearly. He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Betty Romanyzyn; and sister, Juanita Martis.
