SANDUSKY, Ohio (KLTV) – Hemphill angler Marshall Hughes finished in fifth place during the knockout round of the Suzuki Marine Stage 7 on Lake Erie, just ahead of Edgewood’s Jeff Sprague.
Hughes finished in fifth place with 12 catches, totaling 44 pounds 12 ounces, just under 26 pounds behind the knockout round’s winner Jacob Wheeler.
Sprague finished in sixth place with 12 catches, totaling 44 pounds 11 ounces, putting him exactly 26 pounds behind Wheeler and one ounce behind Hughes.
Hughes’ and Sprague’s totals are now zeroed as they enter the championship round on Sunday. Final placement for the tournament is based on the total weight caught during the championship round.
Hughes is currently ranked 44th in the Bass Pro Tour 2026 season with $55,300 in tournament winnings.
Sprague is currently ranked 17th in the Bass Pro Tour 2026 season with $113,100 in tournament winnings.
