McDowell High School’s PTSA says fundraising is getting tougher, with clubs, sports, and activities all competing for the same dollars. Now they’re trying something new, partnering with Goodwill to help families give and actually get a little back.
The PTSA is launching a Goodwill “Good To Go” fundraiser, where every full bin of donated items earns money for the organization.
But they’re also giving Millcreek School District families a chance to get up to $50 reimbursed for school fees if they fill a bin themselves. Those fees can include AP tests, lunch accounts, sports registration, or parking passes.
Community members who fill a bin earn a gift card, and smaller donations still earn chances to win.
The PTSA says it’s their way of giving back to a community that always shows up for them.
“We’re kind of that whole gift to get, you know. We as the PTSA like to give back to our community and thank them for their support, and this was kind of our thought of how we could do that in the summer,” said Jenn Sennett, the outgoing PTSA president at McDowell.
