One day after lightning struck their plane as it was approaching Lehigh Valley International Airport, players from the Party Animals exhibition baseball team, part of the Banana Ball Championship League, stopped by an Allentown Dunkin’ to raise the spirits of a young Lehigh Valley Reilly Children’s Hospital patient.
To help kick off Banana Ball weekend at Coca-Cola Park, Dunkin’ surprised Masón Jiménez, an 8-year-old patient, with 10 tickets to the sold-out Banana Ball games on Friday, company officials said in a statement.
The Dunkin at 3111 Lehigh St. is holding a fan meet-and-greet from 9 a.m.. to 11 a.m. Saturday. Players are behind the counter serving orders and engaging with fans for photos and autographs.
During Friday’s event, Dunkin’ presented Jiménez with oversized game tickets, doughnuts, appearances by Dunkin’s mascot, Sprinkles, and other special surprises to create an unforgettable experience for him, his family and his care team at Lehigh Valley Reilly Children’s Hospital, part of Jefferson Health, according to the company.
Masón a Lehigh Valley resident, is currently being treated for Leukemia.
“The surprise celebrates his strength and resilience while giving Masón and his family the opportunity to enjoy one of the summer’s most anticipated sporting events and create lasting memories together,” the statement read.
