One person was killed and five others were injured in separate incidents of gun violence early Sunday across Philadelphia.

The fatal shooting happened at around 3:15 a.m. at 8th and Oxford streets in North Philadelphia, according to police. Authorities said two adult men were shot; officers rushed one of the victims to Temple University Hospital, where he died just before 4:30 a.m. There was no word on the condition of the other man.

The PPD has not publicly identified the homicide victim or released any details about the circumstances of the shooting.

Law enforcement officials said two men were also shot just after 11:45 a.m. on the 3400 block of Germantown Avenue in North Philadelphia. The gunfire reportedly erupted just outside Temple University Hospital. The extent of their injuries was not immediately clear.

In Southwest Philadelphia, someone shot a 42-year-old man at around 7 a.m. on the 6200 block of Woodland Avenue in the Elmwood neighborhood, police said. He was taken to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center in critical condition.

Officers responded after gunfire erupted at around 3:15 a.m. on the 2700 block of N. Hemberger Street in North Philadelphia, according to law enforcement. A short time later, investigators said, a 32-year-old woman with gunshot wounds to her abdomen, back and right leg showed up to Temple hospital in a private vehicle. She is expected to survive. 

No arrests were made in the immediate aftermath of any of the shootings, police said. Anyone with information is asked to call or text the PPD tip line at 215-686-TIPS (8477).

Through Aug. 8, 103 people had been murdered this year in Philadelphia, a decrease of about 25% compared to the same date in 2025, police data shows. The number of gunshot victims is also down nearly 35%.
