(WHTM) — A sure sign that summertime is waning and spooky season will soon be upon us: Spirit Halloween is opening in shopping centers across the Midstate.

Over the past month, the popular retailer had been gearing up to open in Dauphin and Lancaster counties.

Many locations are now open or will be in the next month or so, in case you wanted to pick up your Halloween costume while back-to-school shopping.

 With spooky season approaching, PA Labor & Industry aims to protect young performers 

The retailer began hiring for more than 52,000 positions nationwide in June, preparing for what they called a “record-breaking” year.

Almost like a ghost, Spirit Halloween is filling the spaces of various bygone retailers like Rite Aid, Sears, Bon-Ton, Bed Bath and Beyond, and Big Lots across central Pennsylvania.

For most of the Midstate, a location is within about a half-hour’s drive or will be soon.

Eleven stores are in the Midstate and another eleven or so are in adjacent counties:
