LOWER MERION – The Merion Fire Company of Ardmore responded with apparatus from each of the other Lower Merion fire companies to a building fire on the 100 block of Grandview Road in Ardmore on Aug. 7, at 2:34 p.m.
Ardmore Fire Chief arrived to find smoke showing from the rear of the residence and heard calls for help coming from inside the first floor. Chief Tom Hayden and Fire Marshal Jim Gulliver immediately entered the home and safely evacuated two elderly women through the front of the structure.
Firefighters began a search of the second floor where they located a male occupant who was unaware that the house was on fire and safely evacuated him from the residence.
Crews quickly located and knocked down the fire before beginning ventilation and overhaul operations. Narbeth Ambulance evaluated the residents that the firefighters removed.
