Call it a food fight, call it a wrestling match — either way, hoagies are throwing down in Philadelphia this fall.

Chef Eli Kulp and the Delicious City Philly Podcast (aka radio producer Marisa Magnatta and food influencer Dave Wez, @FeedingTimeTV) are putting together another Hoagie Throwdown, only this year is set to be a little messier.

Set for Sunday, Sept. 27  at Other Half Brewing in Fishtown, the sophomore session of this quirky event promises “more sandwiches, competition, entertainment, and classic Philadelphia-style chaos.”

In 2026, over 20 chefs, restaurants, delis, and sandwich makers will face off to determine who can create the city’s ultimate hoagie. Guests will receive a complimentary beer or soft drink and unlimited samples of every competing sandwich, giving them the chance to taste expertly crafted hoagies influenced by cuisines from around the world. Throughout the afternoon, those who attend will also have the power to decide the winner by voting for their favorite, with the People’s Choice Hoagie Champion taking home the Hoagie Throwdown Championship Belt.

And of course, the competition extends beyond the sandwiches — live professional wrestling from Pro Wrestling Entertainment and their longtime rivals, BTA, will also be happening throughout the afternoon. Social media personality Luigi Primo is returning to defend his title against Griffin McCoy (after defeating McCoy in 2025’s matchup).

Between the wrestling matches and hoagie battles, guests can also enjoy craft beer from Other Half Brewing, music, merchandise, wrestler face painting, giveaways, and a few other surprises along the way.

“Everyone thinks they know what a great hoagie is until they come to Hoagie Throwdown,” explains Kulp. “Last year, we watched some of Philadelphia’s best chefs completely reinvent what a hoagie could be. This year we’re raising the bar even higher.”

This year’s Hoagie Throwdown is set for Sunday, Sept. 27, from noon to 4 p.m, at Other Half Brewing, 1002 Canal St. Tickets to this year’s event are limited to 500, with early-bird tickets for the first 50 guests starting at $55.
