Ali Alkhaleel, one of six people who physically assaulted and shouted antisemitic slurs at a Jewish University of Pittsburgh students, has pled guilty to conspiracy to obstruct the administration of justice and obstructing the administration of justice. He will be sentenced on Dec. 9.
The Sept. 27, 2024, attack occurred as the student was leaving Phat’s Bar near Semple and Ward Streets in Oakland at approximately 2 a.m. after the men noticed he was wearing a Star of David on a chain. The men shouted, “Free Palestine,” “F— Jews” and other antisemitic remarks before Muhammed Koc, 27, allegedly assaulted the student.
Alkhaleel was present at the time of the assault, but his plea is only related to his attempts to cover up the crime.
