OBITUARY
Peter J. Tunis, 74, of South Scranton died Sunday, August 2nd, 2026, at the Geisinger C.M.C. His wife of 55 years is the former Rose Chmiel.
Born in Scranton, he was the son of the late Peter J. Tunis and Catherine Weller Tunis. He attended Scranton Technical High School, prior to retirement he was employed by the DPW for the city of Scranton where he earned employee of the month honors. He was known as a hard worker, and a loving family man. He will be missed by all who knew him.
Also surviving are daughter Holly Tunis, Scranton; sons Dustin Tunis and wife Coleen Dana, Peckville and Joshua VanBuskirk; grandchildren Alex Tunis and fianc Kylie Passeri, Anna Tunis; sister, Maria Lombardi and husband, James; nephew James Lombardi; He was preceded in death by son Peter J. Tunis Jr.; brother Joseph Tunis; sister Catherine Tunis.
Private funeral services and interment in Cathedral Cemetery were held. Arrangements were entrusted to the Solfanelli-Fiorillo Funeral Home Inc., 1030 N. Main Ave., Scranton.
