Community members gathered in Scranton to honor late firefighter Kelly ‘Hoppy’ Hopkins, who passed away in April of 2025 after a battle with esophageal cancer.
SCRANTON, Pa. — A memorial event honored a late firefighter Saturday in Lackawanna County.
Community members gathered in front of Minooka American Legion along Birney Avenue in Scranton to honor the late Kelly Hopkins.
Lieutenant Kelly “Hoppy” Hopkins passed away in April of 2025 due to esophageal cancer.
He was a devoted member of the Scranton Fire Department and today, family and friends decided to celebrate his life and legacy.
“Not a day goes by that we don’t miss him….so happy to honor him in this way,” said Assistant Chief Jeffery White.
The donation of a memorial brick was placed in Kelly’s honor at the memorial ceremony.
