Incoming medical students were welcomed Friday at the Geisinger College of Health Sciences’ School of Medicine White Coat Ceremony in Marywood’s Sette LaVerghetta Center for the Performing Arts. Students received their first white coat, representing their entrance into the medical profession. New medical students take an oath acknowledging their responsibilities and obligations to future patients. It emphasized the importance of compassionate care for the patient as well as scientific proficiency. Students recited an oath in the presence of their family, friends and the community.
