SCRANTON, Pa. — The 25th annual Lebanese American Food Festival took place Sunday at the Saint Joseph Melkite Greek Catholic Church in Scranton.
The longtime community festival featured homemade Middle Eastern specialties, American picnic favorites, and family-friendly fun.
Organizers say the tasty event not only shares culture but is vital for the parish.

“All of the food festival go toward running the church; we don’t keep any of it, it’s all volunteer. And it’s really this is our main fundraiser for the year, which is why it’s such a big deal. So many people turn out for it, and it’s really a thing that’s keeping our tiny parish going,” said Elizabeth Clark.
Although the festival got off to a rainy start, organizers think they will come close to their fundraising goal.
