More than 1 million people attended Musikfest 2026, marking the third-highest attendance in the festival’s 43-year history.
Festival organizer ArtsQuest announced Wednesday that 1,260,630 people attended the 10-day festival, which took place in Bethlehem’s North and South sides between July 31 and Aug. 9.
That number was about 200,000 shy of last year’s record-setting number of 1,449,000, and about 70,000 shy of the 2023 attendance of 1,330,000, the second-highest in the festival’s history.
ArtsQuest said the festival, which had more than 400 performers across 16 stages, had people from 46 states and three countries, including Canada, Portugal and South Korea. Headliners Yellowcard and “Weird Al” Yankovic sold out as well.
Festival organizers said Monday and Tuesday attendance broke records, with the Monday attendance up 6.2% from last year, and Tuesday attendance beating its previous record by 15%. They attributed favorable weather and headline performances by Yankovic and Train with the attendance boost those days.
“Welcoming more than 1.26 million people to Bethlehem over 10 days and 11 nights is an extraordinary reminder of the strength of Musikfest and the connection people have to this festival,” Kassie Hilgert, president and CEO of ArtsQuest, said in a news release. “This year certainly tested everyone with stretches of heat and humidity and storms that temporarily interrupted programming, but our community continued to show up. That resilience is part of what makes Musikfest so special.”
Rain fell during a few days of Musikfest, however the festival only shut down once for weather due to a storm on the second Friday.
Temperatures were in the 80s and 90s during the festival. A high of 92 was recorded Friday, marking the hottest day of the month so far, according to weather service data.
Next year’s Musikfest will be Aug. 6-15.
