Erie Police are continuing to investigate a late-night shooting on the city’s west side that occurred sometime in mid-July which has now turned fatal.
The shooting occurred around 11 p.m. near West 32nd and Poplar streets.
According to police, officers responded to the area and found a 58-year-old man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to his arm, leg and torso. He was transported to a local hospital for treatment and was initially reported to be in critical condition.
Erie County Coroner Lyell Cook has since confirmed that the man died over the weekend as a result of his injuries.
Investigators said the suspected shooter fled the scene in a vehicle before officers arrived. Police recovered a large number of rifle shell casings from the area as they processed the scene.
No arrests have been made, and no suspects have been taken into custody at this time.
