Two arrested in Pennsylvania for stealing used cooking oil, known as “liquid gold”
LOWER MACUNGIE TOWNSHIP, Pa. —
Two men have been arrested for allegedly stealing used cooking oil, often referred to as “liquid gold,” from an Outback Steakhouse in Lower Macungie Township, Lehigh County, Pennsylvania.
Pennsylvania State Police said the suspects, 41-year-old Dashon Ross and 34-year-old Yusef Brooks, both of New Jersey, used a rented box truck to carry out the theft.
Police in the Lehigh Valley said they are dealing with a theft ring, with businesses also targeted in Berks and Bucks counties.
Used cooking oil can be recycled and filtered for use in biodiesel engines, with a 30-gallon container valued at up to $150.
