FOUNTAIN HILL, Pa. — Domineck Aliquo is turning triple digits.
“I feel fine. There’s nothing to it,” said Aliquo.
The Lehigh County World War II veteran celebrated his 100th birthday with friends and family in Fountain Hill. He received everything from proclamations to cards including a $1,000,000 bill as Frank Sinatra music filled the room. And of course you have to have cake.
“That was a surprise. I didn’t know nothing about it,” said Aliquo.
Aliquo, who is originally from western Pennsylvania, moved to Allentown where he managed a dry cleaning business. He served in the Navy as a Third Class Petty Officer, working as a cobbler, or as he said, keeping the Navy on its feet.
“I had a good job and I used to go out a lot. I had a lot of rhythm in me,” said Aliquo.
He has four daughters, four great grandchildren and five grandchildren, including Caitlin Glagola.
“He’s always had the energy that spunk and just fueled him ever since, so it’s like surreal but not surprising,” said Glagola.
She said her grandfather would always say he would reach 100.
“He just made every family memory like so much fun and like just constant laughing and just always carrying on and he’s just been, every memory back you just have laugh out loud memories with him always,” said Glagola.
So, we all want to know what is the big secret to turning 100?
“I used to dance and dance and dance,” said Aliquo.
