One non-profit came out on top on Erie Gives Day.
On Tuesday evening, the volunteers at Mercy Center for Women celebrated a major milestone, surpassing $500,000 in donations in a single day.
According to Mercy Center leadership, that number breaks the record for most money raised by a non-profit in Erie Gives Day history.
The record-breaking donations will benefit one of the organization’s largest projects.
“Last fall we purchased the former Sacred Hearts school building, which we will refer to as MACC West. That is a $7.5 million campaign. The funding today will help benefit 40 individuals, their apartments that they will be living in,” said Mercy Center for Women’s Executive Director Jennie Hagerty.
Erie Gives donations were accepted until midnight on Tuesday.
