WEST READING, Pa. – It’s just about time for some good, old-fashioned fried fun!
The annual French Fry Fest is back this weekend for its 8th year in Berks County. You’ll be able to find the festival at the 600 and 700 blocks of Penn Avenue in West Reading Saturday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
The festival will be filled with thousands of pounds of fries and at least a hundred varieties from multiple vendors. There’ll be 24 French fry vendors and 70 food vendors.
69 News Reporter Rose Itzcovitz was at Chef David’s Pizza & More in West Reading with more.
Chef David Calvo showcased his pizza overlaid with green peppers, onions, steak, and, of course, French fries!
What is he looking forward to most about French Fry Fest this weekend?
“Love,” he said.
He said a lot of people come out to try French fries from all the different businesses.
Organizers say the festival started out with just four vendors and 500 attendees and expanded from there. Fast forward to last year: 18,000 people came to check out the festival.
This year, Calvo expects even more people to come out.
“It’s going to be amazing,” he said.
