Mary Patricia Walsh
OBITUARY
Mary Patricia Walsh (Gavin) of Clarks Summit, died Monday morning, at home, after an illness. She was preceded in death by her husband of 41 years J. Robert Walsh.
Born in Scranton on February 2, 1940, she was the daughter of the late Jean and Gerald Gavin. She was a graduate of Marywood Seminary and a 1961 graduate of Marywood College with a Bachelor of Science In Elementary Education. She was a member of the Alumni Society, San Andreas Society, St. Joseph Center Auxiliary, Mercy Hospital Auxiliary Volunteer, a member of the Church of St. Gregory, where she served as a eucharistic minister to hospitals and nursing homes and was on the board of St. Michael’s School for Boys.
She was a beloved Nana, and took delight in the company of her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Pat was an avid reader who enjoyed sharing books with her many friends. She entertained her grandchildren with tales of her many travels around the world.
Surviving are a son, John, daughter-in-law, Karyn and grandchildren, J. Kevin Walsh (Lauren), Philadelphia, Anna Richardson (Alex), Mount Laurel, NJ, Emily Swartz (Phillip), Philadelphia; a daughter, Maura, son-in-law, James Clark, and grandchildren, Maggie, Philadelphia, Maeve, Texas and Gavin, Wallingford; one brother, Thomas Gavin, of West Chester, PA and nieces and nephews.
The funeral mass will be Saturday at 10 from Church of St. Gregory, 330 North Abington Rd, Clarks Green, with Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated by Father John Lapera. The family will receive relatives and friends from 9:00 A.M. to 10:00 A.M. at the church, before Mass. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph’s Center, 2010 Adams Ave., Scranton, PA 18509.
