Pennsylvania Game Commission ends Deputy Game Warden Program, officials say
The Pennsylvania Game Commission has announced the end of the state’s Deputy Game Warden Program, dismissing all deputy wardens within law enforcement across the Commonwealth.
The Game Commission said ending the program was a difficult decision that reflects its mission to protect Pennsylvania’s wildlife resources through an efficient and effective full-time workforce.
The agency also expressed gratitude to those who volunteered as deputy wardens.

Press Secretary of the Pennsylvania Game Commission John Buffone confirmed the program’s end with WGAL, saying:
“As part of our ongoing mission to protect Pennsylvania’s wildlife resources, the Pennsylvania Game Commission has made the difficult decision to end the Deputy Game Warden Program within law enforcement. This decision reflects our focus on having the most efficient and effective full-time, professional workforce.
“The Commission is deeply grateful to the committed individuals that volunteered and served as deputy wardens, providing valuable services to the agency and to the people of Pennsylvania.
The PGC is unwavering in its obligation to serve as the guardian of state wildlife resources for all citizens.”
