Dog shot, killed by officer following reports of 2 loose dogs biting several people | Allentown Area

ALLENTOWN, Pa. – Allentown Police say an officer discharged their duty weapon and killed a dog after it charged at them.

Officers responded to the 1900 block of Turner Street for the report of two loose dogs that were biting multiple people, the Allentown Police Department said in a news release.

City police said officers found the dogs, and one of them charged toward an officer.

According to police, the officer discharged their duty weapon, killing the dog that charged.

The second dog is still alive and on a 10-day rabies quarantine, according to Teisha Jones from the Lehigh Valley Humane Society.

The living dog will be examined at the end of the quarantine period before being released by the vet, Jones said.

Police said three bite victims with moderate injuries were located.

The investigation is active and ongoing, and police said there will be no further comment at this time.
