Erie police found no suspicious devices or evidence of a credible threat at the Meadowlark School after the school received a bomb threat phone call Thursday afternoon.
Parents and students were being reunited at the school, which serves pre-kindergarten through eighth-grade students, according to Amber Luttrell, an Erie police spokesperson.
The school went on lockdown for about an hour Thursday afternoon while law enforcement responded to clear the building, according to an email from the school’s principal sent to parents and staff.
The threat, which police are calling a “swatting” incident, came on the first day of school for seventh and eighth graders, and the second day for other students, according to a Boulder Valley School District calendar.
“We recognize how unsettling incidents like this are for students, families, educators, and our broader community,” Erie police said in a social media post. “These incidents cause fear for students, families, and staff; disrupt learning; and require substantial public safety resources. Investigations into the source of these threats can involve local, state, and federal law enforcement partners and may include examination of digital and telecommunications evidence.”
The school will resume its normal schedule Friday, according to the email. School counselors, a mental health advocate and the Boulder Valley School District trauma support team will be on site Friday and next week to speak with any students who need support.
