Potassium iodide tablets distributed to protect from radiological emergencies | Upper Montgomery County

POTTSTOWN, Pa. – Health officials handed out free potassium iodide tablets in Montgomery County today.

The tablets were available for anyone who lives, works, or goes to school within ten miles of the Limerick nuclear power plant.

The 69 News crew spotted folks picking some up at the Health Center on King Street in Pottstown.

The pills can help protect the thyroid gland against harmful radioactive iodine during radiological emergencies.
