PITTSTON, Pa. — Tomatoes are always in season in Pittston, and the community is gearing up as the region’s favorite summer tradition returns.
The 43rd Annual Pittston Tomato Festival officially kicks off next Thursday, August 20, at 5:00 p.m. and runs through Sunday, August 23, in the heart of downtown Pittston.

Organizers expect to welcome around 100,000 visitors to the four-day event, which will feature more than 75 local vendors lining the streets.
Attendees can look forward to live music, rides, games, and an abundance of tomato-themed food options, ranging from classic sauces to unique local specialties.
The weekend schedule is packed with family-friendly events and traditional competitions, including the annual 5K run and fun walk, the festival parade, and live musical entertainment. Festivalgoers can also catch iconic events like the famous spaghetti eating contest, the tomato contest awarding the largest, smallest, most perfect, and ugliest tomatoes, the Little Miss and Mr. Tomato pageant, and a free bicycle helmet giveaway for kids.
Festivities kick off Thursday evening at 5:00 p.m. and run through Sunday night.
