The Philadelphia Eagles have signed free agent linebacker Brandon George, a former Berks Catholic High School standout, to a one-year contract, according to reports.
The 6-foot-3, 240-pound George, 25, who played collegiately at Pittsburgh, was an undrafted free agent last year signed by the Kansas City Chiefs. He spent last season on injured reserve and was waived in May
At Berks Catholic, he played both linebacker and running back. He racked up 347 tackles and rushed for 2,753 yards and 48 touchdowns.
George started his entire final season at Pitt at linebacker, recording 80 tackles, six TFLs, three forced fumbles and two sacks. He also was a big part of special teams and was viewed as a strong all-around athlete coming out of college
George is a long shot to make the Eagles’ roster. He joins a talented linebacker room led by Zack Baun and Jihaad Campbell, plus Jeremiah Trotter Jr., Chance Campbell and Smael Mondon.
His assessment before the 2025 draft was as follows, according to NFL.com:
“Inside linebacker who boasts a burly frame and outstanding pro-day testing numbers. George was a mainstay on special teams during his six-year career, spending only one season (2024) as a full-time starter. He’s inconsistent in making reads and fitting up the run properly, but he’s big and strong. He can leverage his gaps when he’s in position. He’s a build-up runner who lacks the necessary burst to patrol from sideline to sideline, and he’s a liability in coverage. George’s testing, measurables and special-teams experience might appeal to teams, but likely as an undrafted free agent.”
The Eagles haven’t officially announced the deal or a corresponding roster move. It was first reported by ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler. They kick off their preseason Saturday night against the Ravens in Baltimore.
