Police uncover images of missing women during search of Eugene Horsch’s home
PHILADELPHIA —
Police say images found during a search of Eugene Horsch’s home appear to show two missing women dead.
Two missing women identified
The women have been identified as Maribel Fresses, who disappeared in 2018 at age 27, and Gabrielle Amarando, who was reported missing in 2012 when she was 22.
However, police have not found their bodies.
A former FBI agent who worked in the bureau’s Philadelphia division said the absence of bodies makes the case particularly challenging.
“There is no easy source of DNA to match to any potential forensic evidence they find inside the house,” JJ Klaver, a former FBI agent, said.
Investigators search for forensic evidence
Items collected from the 44-year-old’s home include more than 20 containers of an unknown substance from what police described as an at-home lab in the basement.
Authorities also found five urns containing cremated remains, zip ties, and a handwritten note mentioning serial killer Ted Bundy.
“They’re going through that house with a fine-tooth comb, if you will. I mean, they’re going to be looking for the tiniest fragment of forensic evidence that can tie him to victims and missing persons,” Klaver said.
Horsch remains in custody on firearms and drug charges. So far, police say he is not facing new charges.
