More than 60 shelter dogs to get a second chance in Pennsylvania after flight from California
CHESTER COUNTY, Pa. —
More than 60 shelter dogs are scheduled to arrive in Pennsylvania on Monday following a life-saving flight from Southern California.
The relocation is part of Brandywine Valley SPCA’s Second Chance Program to give dogs and puppies another opportunity to find a home while freeing up critical space in overcrowded shelters and decreasing the risk of euthanasia.
Puppies walked the red carpet in LA
Before the flight, Brandywine Valley SPCA served as the charitable partner for the Astra TV Awards in Los Angeles, where the shelter dogs walked with celebrities along the red carpet.
Some of the celebrities included Baylen Dupree, Christopher McDonald, Jonathan Cheban, Jackson Galaxy, Lisa Ann Walter and William H. Macy.

The SPCA and the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals will then transport the dogs and puppies that were not adopted during the red carpet event to Pennsylvania.
Flight to Chester County
The flight represents Riverside County Department of Animal Services’ largest shelter-dog transport of the year, according to the SPCA.
The dogs are expected to arrive at Chester County Airport in Coatesville on Monday afternoon. Volunteers and transport teams will unload the animals and take them to the Brandywine Valley SPCA’s West Chester campus.
Available for adoption
After arriving at the West Chester campus, the dogs will receive care and any necessary evaluations before becoming available for adoption. Some could be ready to meet families as early as Tuesday, Aug. 18.
The animals may be placed at multiple Brandywine Valley SPCA campuses, giving families across the region opportunities to meet and adopt them.
