EXETER. LUZERNE CO. (WOLF) — Drivers traveling through Exeter Borough should expect traffic restrictions beginning Monday as work continues on a major sewer improvement project.
Borough officials said traffic on Route 11, Wyoming Avenue, will be limited to one lane beginning Monday, Aug. 17.
Wide loads exceeding nine feet will be prohibited through the construction area.
Officials are asking motorists to use caution and be patient with construction workers, other drivers and pedestrians while traveling through the work zones.
The restrictions are connected to the Exeter Borough Wyoming Avenue-Schooley Avenue Sewer Improvement Project, an approximately 18-month, $9 million project.
According to the borough, the work is being funded through Wyoming Valley Sanitary Authority sewer revenues, several Local Share Account state grants, Peoples Security Bank & Trust and a low-interest USDA Rural Development loan.
The borough said the sewer improvements are intended to provide infrastructure needed for future development and additional improvements along the Wyoming Avenue corridor.
Once the sewer installation is completed, planned projects include a new Exeter Borough Community Pavilion, a full PennDOT paving project along Wyoming Avenue/Route 11 and new sidewalks and street lighting along Wyoming Avenue.

Additional project updates will be provided during Exeter Borough Council meetings. The next meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 1.
