TRENTON, N.J. – K9 Zito, a 9-year-old German Shepherd who served with the New Jersey State Police, passed away Aug. 13.
State police, in a Facebook post, that Zito served alongside his handler, Trooper I. Nicholas Davis, with the New Jersey State Police K9 South Unit.
For nine years, Zito specialized in patrol response and narcotics detection, state police said.
“Throughout his career, he demonstrated unwavering dedication, courage, and loyalty in service to the public,” state police said in the Facebook post.
“Zito will forever be remembered as a dedicated public servant, loyal partner, and cherished member of the New Jersey State Police family.
“Rest easy, K9 Zito. You will be deeply missed.”
