WALNUTPORT, Pa. – Today for Make a Difference Monday, we’re featuring a nonprofit that has been around for a decade, providing free clothing and household items to our neighbors in need.
Now, Caring Hearts has a new event space you can rent out to help keep the nonprofit going for years to come.
The Caring Hearts Community Room and Event Center is right next door to the Caring Hearts Clothing Closet in Walnutport.
The event center is a community space that you can rent out for parties, reunions, and get-togethers. There is room for up to 50 guests.
The first event at the new space will be an indoor flea market and “fill a bag” where, for $10, you can fill a bag with as much clothing as it can hold.
That event will be coming sometime in September, and the date will be announced on Caring Hearts’ website.
In the meantime, Caring Hearts Founder Denise Martinez says the support for the new space from the community has been incredible.
“We are very thankful that we found this space, and honestly it is perfect. I still feel like it’s a dream. I just never thought this would all come to fruition, and here we are,” Martinez says.
Denise says she hopes the money they raise from room rentals will help her pay the rent and keep the free store up and running.
Besides the location that offers free items in Walnutport, Denise also runs the Caring Hearts Thrift Boutique at the South Mall in Allentown.
