READING, Pa. – Authorities have identified the man and woman who died in an apparent murder-suicide in Reading earlier this week that left a two-month-old child injured.
Police surrounded a home in the 1200 block of Locust Street on Monday afternoon after responding to a 911 call from a neighbor reporting gunshots.
Berks County District Attorney John Adams says it appears the man, identified as Jesus Peñaloza Cruz, shot Selena Zavala-Hernandes, a two-month-old child and himself.
Adams says it is believed at this point in the investigation that Cruz and Zavala-Hernandes were the child’s mother and father.
At last check, the child was in stable-but-critical condition at a Philadelphia hospital.
