The time is up for a downtown Clarks Summit landmark. Crews working with local real estate broker, contractor and developer Ron Parasole dismantled the clock tower at the convergence of State and Depot streets Monday. Also removed was a plaque at the tower base in memory of Laura Lee DeFazio Morabito, a Clarks Summit native who died on 9/11. Borough officials decided to remove the clock tower because the it doesn’t have an easement for the private property where it is located. The borough plans to relocate the plaque to Finish Shop Pocket Park on Depot Street and beautify the park. Parasole plans to relocate the clock tower to a property he owns in South Abington Twp., restore it, and eventually move it to his property in the 300 block of Bedford Street.
