More than 60 dogs and puppies are getting a new leash on life after a cross-country rescue flight brought them from Southern California to Pennsylvania.
According to the Brandywine Valley SPCA (BVSPCA), the shelter animals arrived Monday, Aug. 17, 2026, as part of a lifesaving transport from overcrowded shelters in Southern California.
The rescue flight was part of the organization’s Second Chance Program, which aims to relocate homeless pets from overcrowded shelters and areas where they may be at risk of euthanasia.

The BVSPCA worked with the Riverside County Department of Animal Services (RCDAS) and the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (ASPCA) to coordinate the transport.
The dogs were taken to the BVSPCA’s West Chester Campus, where they are receiving care before getting the opportunity to find new homes.
