Hecktown Road bridge over Route 22 to close for more than a year

Beginning Monday, the Hecktown Road bridge over Route 22 in Bethlehem Township will be shut down for more than a year.

In a social media post, township police said PennDOT will begin replacing the structure Monday with a scheduled completion date of December 2027. The $4.7 million project is part of improvements to Route 22 in Northampton County. They include updates to the interchange with Route 191 and replacing the Farmersville Road bridge.

Motorists will use a detour that uses Green Pond and Country Club roads in Bethlehem Township and Hecktown Road in Lower Nazareth Township.

Northampton Community College students should anticipate longer travel times, police said.
