New Castle Lawn & Landscape recently received national recognition from Lawn & Landscape magazine. The Berks County company is among 27 companies named to Lawn & Landscape’s 2026 list of Best Places to Work.
New Castle Lawn & Landscape, headquartered in Cumru Township, landed in the 16th spot overall on the annual list, and sixth on the medium employer category for companies with 50-99 employees.
The company, which has 71 employees, serves commercial and residential clients throughout the region with a variety of services that include hardscaping and outdoor living design, landscaping, commercial property maintenance and snow removal and tree services. In addition to its Berks headquarters, New Castle has a satellite location in Wayne, Delaware County.
The survey and awards program was created in 2022, and was designed to identify, recognize and honor the best places of employment, benefiting the industry’s economy, its workforce and businesses, according to a release. It is a project of the magazine and Best Companies Group.
Participation in this year’s program consisted of two parts, according to the release. The first was an evaluation of each nominated company’s workplace policies, practices and demographics — which was worth approximately 25% of the total evaluation. The second part consisted of an employee survey — worth approximately 75% of the total evaluation.
Employees were surveyed on the following areas, according to information on Lawn & Landscape’s website: leadership; corporate culture and communications; role satisfaction; work environment; relationship with supervisor; training, development and resource; pay and benefits; and overall engagement.
The combined scores determined the top companies and the final rankings. Best Companies Group managed the overall registration and survey process and also analyzed the data and used their expertise to determine the final rankings, according to the release.
To be considered for participation, each company was required to meet several eligibility requirements:
• 50% or more of revenue coming from landscaping services, which includes maintenance, chemical lawn care, irrigation, design/build, hardscapes, tree care and interior landscaping, landscape lighting.
• Be a publicly or privately held business.
• Be a for-profit or not-for-profit business.
• Based in the U.S. or Canada.
• Have a minimum of 15 full- or part-time employees.
• In business a minimum of one year.
