PRT says delays expected after light-rail derailment at South Hills Village | Rail yard reopens
BETHEL PARK, Pa. —
UPDATE:
Pittsburgh Regional Transit said at 7:30 p.m. Tuesday that the rail yard has reopened.
Officials said all rail cars remain about 30 minutes behind.
PRT anticipates getting back to regular schedule by roughly 8 p.m.

A derailment is impacting Pittsburgh Regional Transit light-rail service Tuesday evening.
The derailment happened at the South Hills Village rail yard and is preventing light-rail cars from getting in or out of the rail center, PRT said.
“About 1/4 of the cars we need for rush hour service are in the system. If you have a bus route available we encourage you to utilize it. Delays are expected,” PRT said in a social media post.
In an update, PRT posted, “One axle of a rail car derailed from the tracks. Delays will remain in effect for a couple hours. We have crews heading to the scene to put the car back on the tracks and inspect the rail.”
