Woman shot and killed in Bedford Dwellings neighborhood
Police are searching for a heavy set man who ran from the scene.
PITTSBURGH —
The search is on for a suspect in a deadly shooting in Pittsburgh’s Bedford Dwelling neighborhood.
Pittsburgh Public Safety said officers were dispatched to Chauncey Drive for a woman shot in the head just before 3 a.m. This is right off of Bedford Avenue. She was found right outside her apartment. Medics pronounced her dead on scene.
Public safety officials said a heavy set man ran from the scene. Detectives recovered 5-6 shell casings.
Pittsburgh’s Action News 4 also saw a K-9 on scene heading down Bedford Ave. Public safety officals said the K-9 is gun detection dog.
“On scene right now police have called in a gun detection dog so that dog and the handler are casing the area at the moment concerning any firearms,” Pittsburgh Public Safety spokesperson Cara Cruz said.
There is no word on the name of the victim.
