A man has been hospitalized overnight after, police said, he was injured in a hail of gunfire that happened in Philly’s Nicetown section.
According to Philadelphia Police Chief Inspector Scott Small, officers responded to the intersection of 18th Street and Erie Avenue just after 2 a.m. on Wednesday to find a man, believed to be in his mid-twenties, who had been shot in the arm.
This man, Small said, was taken to a nearby hospital where he was listed in stable condition.
At the scene, he said, investigators found gunfire had struck at least two vehicles at the intersection and about 20 spent shell casings were recovered.
However, no motive was immediately determined in this incident and no weapons were recovered, Small said.
Also, he said, the victim in this incident was not cooperating with the ongoing investigation into the shooting.
As of about 5 a.m. on Wednesday, officers were still working at the scene as an investigation was underway.
