New interchange planned for Pennsylvania Turnpike in Westmoreland County
MOUNT PLEASANT TOWNSHIP, Pa. —
The Pennsylvania Turnpike Commission is moving forward with a new interchange while putting plans for another one on hold.
Turnpike officials plan to build a new interchange in Westmoreland County, where the toll road crosses Route 981.
A timeline has not been announced for the new interchange in Mount Pleasant Township, about 15 minutes south of Arnold Palmer Regional Airport.

With this project, the turnpike is pausing development of an interchange where the turnpike crosses Route 130 in Penn Township, Westmoreland County. Pittsburgh’s Action News 4 first reported on those plans in October 2021.
The turnpike says that interchange at Route 130 is still considered a priority project.
