A Simpson man fled after Blakely officers pulled him over for running a red light on Monday, according to a criminal complaint.
Matthew Daniel Uronis, 42, faces a felony charge of flight to avoid apprehension, along with misdemeanor charges of fleeing or attempting to elude a police officer and recklessly endangering another person.
At about 4:45 p.m., officers stopped Uronis near 1806 Main St. after he ran a red light at Lackawanna Avenue and Main Street, police said.
Uronis, of 65 River St., initially stepped out of his Toyota RAV4 and apologized to officers. He identified himself as Daniel Uronis and claimed he left his license at home.
Police ordered Uronis back into his vehicle while they verified his information. Officers then permitted him to move his vehicle out of the way of another car because he was blocking a driveway. Instead, Uronis sped westbound on Main Street toward Dickson City.
Shortly after, Uronis struck another vehicle at 3rd and West Lackawanna avenues in Throop, flattening one of his tires. He attempted to flee on foot before Throop police took him into custody.
When officers asked Uronis why he fled, he said he had an active arrest warrant, which police later confirmed was issued out of Lebanon County.
A search of his vehicle yielded crystal methamphetamine in a taped medical container, three open Suboxone strips, and two glass pipes with residue.
Uronis is being held at the Lackawanna County Prison in lieu of $10,000 bail. A preliminary hearing is scheduled for Aug. 31 at 9:30 a.m. before District Judge Kipp Adcock.
