SCRANTON, LACKAWANNA CO. (WOLF) — More than $7 million in state funding has been awarded for four transportation and infrastructure projects in Lackawanna County, according to state Rep. Kyle Donahue.
The funding, awarded through the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation’s Multimodal Transportation Fund, will support projects within the 113th Legislative District.
The largest award is nearly $3 million to replace the Ash Street Bridge.
Another $2 million will go toward widening and signage improvements along Montage Mountain Road.
The University of Scranton will receive $1.5 million for pedestrian access and drainage improvements on its campus.
An additional $1,311,593 will fund infrastructure improvements along North Main Avenue and Green Ridge Street.
“Investing in our transportation infrastructure means investing in safer roads, stronger connections and a better quality of life for our communities,” Donahue said.
The four awards total approximately $7.81 million.
Donahue said the projects will improve transportation for residents, workers and motorists who rely on roads throughout the district.
The money comes through PennDOT’s Multimodal Transportation Fund Statewide Competitive Funding Program, which provides financial assistance for transportation projects across Pennsylvania.
