FREEMANSBURG, Pa. — One person is dead and another is in critical condition after a shooting in Northampton County early Saturday morning.
Freemansburg police said officers responded to a reported domestic incident on Market Street around 6:05 a.m.
Upon arrival, officers confiscated a handgun and initiated life-saving measures on one victim. Authorities confirmed two people were shot, leaving one dead and the other critically injured.
The critically injured victim is currently in the hospital being treated for gunshot wounds.
Three children were inside the home at the time of the incident, according to police.
One person has been taken into custody and there is no threat to the public at this time, according to authorities.
Lower Saucon Township Police, Bethlehem Township Police, and Pennsylvania State Police assisted Freemansburg police at the scene.
Pennsylvania State Police Troop M‘s Major Case Team are opening a homicide investigation, according to Trooper Nathan Branosky.
